This is the 21st century. Whatever your age, you have the rest of your life to live. Why not make the most of the rest of your life?
We are an ‘excuse society’. We come up with many excuses (to not reinvent ourselves). Here are some you may have:
1. It’s too late for me to do this(to reinvent ourselves)? Really? Who decided that you’re past your peak? Maybe your peak is ahead of you!
2. It’s too hard(to reinvent ourselves). How would you know if you didn’t try? You have a lot of experience under your belt. Take a stab at it!
3. What if I fail(to reinvent myself)? You’ve succeeded and failed in life… already. As we get older, we focus on the risks and not enough on the rewards. Remember how you dreamt as a child. You didn’t know how to walk or talk or… and yet here you are… walking and talking! So, give it a shot!
4. I don’t know the new stuff! Well, you did go to school. You already know how to learn So, learn whatever new stuff you want to learn!
5. I wonder what others will think. Really? People will have opinions irrespective of what you do. Whether you do more (or less), try harder (or not at all)… somebody will have something to say about it. So, figure out what you want to do, and do it!
6. I am not capable. Really? Look at all that you have already accomplished.
7. This is not a typical career path. What? A person in the United States will have 12 jobs during their working life. Blaze a new trail and define the new normal!
You may have to REinvent yourself for a new job or career. That’s easy… take stock of who/where you are, develop clarity of where you want to go (and commit to living intentionally to get there), find a community of like-minded people, leverage your strengths and mitigate your weaknesses, and constantly build momentum… to become the achiever you want to be.www.MiTRamiyer.com/Programs
